FAQ: A. Horsehair is the best all around fiber for polishing the pebble. It is good on keen or frosty ice. It is self cleaning and resilient. Q. Why do curlers use a hog hair brush? A. There are two types of hog hair brushes. The Soft Hog is used mostly on jet ice by curlers who like a soft, easy to push, brush. The Stiff Hog is used on frosty ice. It breaks down the frost and rectifies heavy ice conditions. The stiff hog is hard to push and is used by heavy sweepers. Q. What is the difference between a synthetic or hair brush? A. It is a personal preference. Both have a polishing effect on the pebble. Synthetic is used mostly on ice with no frost and is keen. Hair is used on frosty ice or arena ice where the synthetic gets plugged with an icy film. Q. Why would a curler want a stopwatch in the handle? A. For convenience. The stopwatch in the handle allows the front end to time rocks for both interval timing and full sheet. The stopwatch is always ready. It is not hanging from your neck or waist. Q. When I put the Transformer head on an angle I find it difficult to begin threading the knob because it rubs against the handle. A. Install the knob that is the tightest first and then install the other knob. This will allow you to adjust the head to provide easy attachment. Q. How often should I replace my curling brush? A. All Hair Brushes are made of actual animal hair. Since this hair is like human hair it will dry and crack overtime. Hair brushes should be replaced annually. All Synthetic Brushes also wear out overtime. The surface of the fabric becomes smooth therefore, losing its effect on the pebble. Replace your brush as needed or on an annual basis.
